GEO Rebate Program

The Colorado Governor's Energy Office (GEO) launched a new rebate program on April 19, offering rebates for appliances, energy efficiency improvements, and renewable energy projects.  Please read the press release below and visit the GEO Recharge Colorado website for information on this new rebate program.  Until then, you can go to the GEO website for information.   If you do not have access to the internet, you may use their call center, 1-800-462-0184.

Through the Recharge Colorado campaign, the Governor's Energy Office, utilities, cities and counties across the state are partnering to offer money-saving rebates and programs to enable Coloradans to participate in the New Energy Economy. Rebates can be reserved through the Recharge Colorado website beginning April 19 and will be available until the money runs out. Rebates include:
• Replacement appliance rebates for clothes washers, refrigerators and dishwashers
• Home upgrade rebates such as insulation, furnaces and water heaters
• Solar electric and hot water rebates and wind rebates
The GEO and its partners are providing roughly $18 million worth of rebates for Colorado with this program. The money is expected to provide approximately 75,000 rebates, including about 16,000 rebates for ENERGY STAR refrigerators, dishwashers and clothes washers.

San Miguel Power Association (SMPA) has partnered with the GEO to provide energy conservation and renewable energy rebates to its members in 2010. Read SMPA's press release SMPA news.

GEO Press Release, April 15, 2010

"Partners statewide team with Governor's Energy Office
for 'Recharge Colorado' campaign"

Cities, counties, utilities statewide join GEO in rebate program;
Local governments, electricity providers help customers save money, energy

Nearly three dozen cities, counties and utilities have joined the Governor's Energy Office (GEO) in the launch of the 'Recharge Colorado' campaign April 19. The partners will team with the GEO to provide a variety of rebates for energy upgrades, including insulation, energy-efficient appliances, energy audits and solar power.

The GEO, using funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, has joined with partners to provide about $18 million in energy efficiency and renewable energy rebates statewide. The rebates will kick off the 'Recharge Colorado' campaign and help Coloradans save money, save energy, create jobs and boost our economy.

Residents can tap into the campaign at www.RechargeColorado.com, where they can reserve a rebate on-line beginning 8 a.m. Monday. As a supplement to the web site, a call center will also be available at 1-800-462-0184. Please note: The web site and call center will not be operational until 8 a.m. April 19. There will be no information at the web address or call center number prior to that time.

The GEO and its local partners expect brisk consumer action, particularly for ENERGY STAR dishwashers, clothes washers and refrigerators. The ENERGY STAR appliances account for about 16,000 of the rebates available. In light of that, it's important for consumers statewide to have realistic expectations and recognize the "sweepstakes" nature of the program.

Partners in the Recharge Colorado campaign are providing a benefit to their customers by reserving rebates for households within their territories. Once the partner funds are depleted, the residents and customers can still apply for the standard GEO rebate, provided that funding still exists.

Recharge Colorado creates a one-stop clearinghouse of information and resources by bringing details about products, rebates, tax breaks and other benefits offered by the Governor's Energy Office, utilities and local governments across Colorado to a single place. The Recharge Colorado campaign is also teaming with the Better Business Bureau to help consumers connect with energy efficiency and renewable energy service providers statewide. On the new site, consumers will be able to access BBB Reliability Reports on businesses that offer applicable services and products.

"We thank the many enthusiastic partners who have joined our Recharge Colorado campaign," said GEO director Tom Plant. "Together we can give more Colorado residents the opportunity to save money, spark job creation and build energy security and independence in Colorado and the country."
