Blog http://www.newcommunitycoalition.org/blog/ Local Food http://www.newcommunitycoalition.org/local-food/
February 16th at 6:30 in Norwood at the Livery!

Do you have an interest in food - especially the local kind? Then you should be at the meeting Wednesday evening to talk about how to get more local food on local tables.

Do you grow vegetables, raise livestock, or eat food? Local is better - fresher, lower environmental impact - and buying local supports the local economy!

Hope to see you there.
Wed, 16 Feb 2011 17:12:54 -0500 http://www.newcommunitycoalition.org/local-food/ Recycling Questions Pack the Room http://www.newcommunitycoalition.org/recycling-questions-pack-the-room/
Our GBR #13 on Recycling in the region packed the Program Room at the Wilkinson Public Library. We had over 60 folks in attendance!

Presentations were excellent - and we'll have snippets posted on the website soon.

Questions were great as well. One thing we'll be working on is getting carbon footprint and energy information about recycling specifics up on the website.

Is recycling always better in terms of carbon footprint?
Is it better to use a garbage disposal or throw food waste in the trash if you absolutely can't compost?
How much leftover pizza makes a cardboard box contaminated?

All these and many more were answered. Stay tuned for more.
Fri, 04 Feb 2011 13:18:10 -0500 http://www.newcommunitycoalition.org/recycling-questions-pack-the-room/ Telluride's River Trail http://www.newcommunitycoalition.org/telluride-s-river-trail/
It's been a delight walking along the River Trail in the morning lately. I do my best to start the day at the Fitness Center - then walk to work. Trying to hit the 10,000 steps per day level that many are talking about. It can be tricky with a 'desk job'.

But the best part of that is the walk along the river. The mornings are cold and the frost on the trees and shrubs is thick. Not only thick, but with days getting longer - the sun turns the landscape into a shimmering scene. Just one of the many reasons we live here - beauty surrounds us - everyday. I hope you take the time to look around and enjoy.
Fri, 21 Jan 2011 17:29:44 -0500 http://www.newcommunitycoalition.org/telluride-s-river-trail/ EcoAction excitement http://www.newcommunitycoalition.org/ecoaction-excitement/
We had a great turnout at Friday's Green Business Roundtable where we launched our EcoAction Initiative. Find out more on this site or call us! It's easy - gather up your last year's worth of electric and natural gas or propane bills. Look over our Participant Agreement and other documents to see what else is needed.
First we measure - then we'll help educate and act! Then measure again! and act some more! You get the picture!
Tue, 18 Jan 2011 15:37:46 -0500 http://www.newcommunitycoalition.org/ecoaction-excitement/ It's Cold Out There! http://www.newcommunitycoalition.org/it-s-cold-out-there-/
Telluride weather data shows it reached negative 14 degrees F early this morning at the airport. Brrr!

Since we live in an area with such magnificent views we often have big windows so we can enjoy them. But windows, if not properly 'treated' can suck energy from your home. Pull your drapes at night. Drop those shades - and save!
Tue, 11 Jan 2011 13:18:04 -0500 http://www.newcommunitycoalition.org/it-s-cold-out-there-/ Kris's First Blog http://www.newcommunitycoalition.org/kris-s-first-blog/
Happy New Year to all!

It's a great time to evaluate happenings from 2010 and more importantly and more fun is looking at new opportunities and challenges.

Our EcoAction Initiative starts on Jan 14th with a Green Business Roundtable.

It's an opportunity to Measure, Evaluate and ACT! to understand our energy, waste and food habits - and how we can make changes to be more comfortable in our homes, save money and energy.

That's Friday the 14th at Noon at the Wilkinson Public Library.
Fri, 31 Dec 2010 14:06:00 -0500 http://www.newcommunitycoalition.org/kris-s-first-blog/
