LEARN ABOUT: The Burn Canyon Community Monitoring Project
A unique collaboration including San Miguesl County, Public Lands Partnership The Uncompaghre Partnership, Sheep Mtn. Alliance (esp.Phil and Linda Miller) and The New Community Coalition (TNCC). Burn Canyon was a devatating 30.000 acre lightning fire near Norwood July 2002)
WHO: The Public is invited. Dress for weather -- bring lunch, rain coat, bug dope, sunscreen, and water bottle
THE TOUR WILL LOOK AT:
- History of the Burn Canyon fire and the Community Monitoring Project
- Transects for vegetation analysis and regeneration comparsons
- New orescriptions used for forest regeneration
- The timber sale and salvage logging operation providing economic benefits to the region
- Ongoing monitoring actiities required to satisfy environmental concerns
